Commercial lighting energy audits for Texas businesses

Tap into the expertise of a PEC Sales Engineer to conduct a comprehensive energy assessment of your current lighting:

  • Gather precise light levels, foot candles, and fixture counts to establish an energy baseline.
  • Learn key areas of inefficient energy usage within your operations.
  • Receive multiple options for LED retrofit solutions to optimize lighting for your business needs, while improving your overall energy efficiency.

How much energy does your lighting system waste? What could an LED retrofit save you annually? How can you improve the operational performance of your facility?

When answering these questions, guesswork is futile. Real efficiency improvements require a thorough measurement of your current and potential systems.

That’s why PEC has made energy audits an essential part of our proprietary approach to designing customized lighting solutions, so that you can optimize lighting where you need it, and not where you don’t.

Our Process:

  1. Pre-Audit Call: Once requesting an audit, you will first connect virtually with a PEC Sales Engineer to briefly discuss your business, current challenges, and project goals to see if our services are a good fit for you!
  2. On-site Energy Audit: We will conduct a complimentary on-site energy assessment of your facility to understand your current lighting system. We will gather precise light levels, foot candles, and fixture accounts to establish an energy baseline.
  3. Efficiency Design: Following the energy audit, we’ll work with you to understand exactly how to provide the lighting system you need for your operations, maximize efficiency, and develop a selection of potential LED retrofit solutions for review.
  4. End-to-end Project Management: Once deciding on a design option and agreeing to scope of work, PEC will handle the entire project implementation — from material procurement, through installation and post-installation support.
  5. Incentive Research through California Utility Providers: Our in-house energy incentives team will also maximize and secure all available incentives helping you fund your project and ensuring you don’t leave any money on the table.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a commercial energy audit?

Our goal of an energy audit is to accurately document the energy usage of the existing lighting systems used throughout your facility, while gathering as much information as possible of how your space is used to determine lighting needs.

This includes an evaluation of any interior lighting (like warehouses or retail floors) and exterior lighting (i.g. parking lots).

What is included in an energy audit?

To complete a thorough audit of your space, a PEC Sales Engineer will perform an on-site evaluation of your facility and work with you to determine:

  • The total number of fixtures and fixture types, their locations, heights, and how they are controlled.
  • Ceiling structure and height.
  • The building’s usages and existing light levels (measured by foot candles).
  • Areas of importance to your business in order to design optimal lighting specific to your needs.

In addition to assessing your current lighting system, we will also evaluate the environmental conditions of your space like airflow, dust, moisture levels, temperature, chemicals, and indoor/outdoor spaces to help us design an efficiency solution for your unique needs.

How much does a commercial energy audit cost?

Energy audits are free when working with PEC! Please note that we do only audit commercial spaces — get started by filling out the form on this page to see if our auditing services make sense for your facility.

What is an LED Retrofit?

An LED retrofit is a replacement of existing inefficient lighting fixtures with energy efficient LED (with or without control systems).

While seemingly straight forward at its core, a one-for-one bulb swap will not maximize efficiency and can even cause some major headaches if done improperly.

That’s why it’s critical to work with an experience LED retrofit contractor like PEC, where we will design a system leveraging the best fixtures, optics, sensors and control systems to help our clients access the maximum amount of efficiency while also making huge improvements to the overall lighting quality in their facilities. Learn more on this page about our LED retrofit services.

Which Texas utility companies offer energy incentives?

PEC has worked extensively with several Texas Delivery Utility Companies (TDU’s), including Oncor, Centerpoint, AEP North, and AEP Central to secure energy incentives toward client projects.

In addition, we’ve also worked with several singly-utility retailers throughout Texas, including CPS Energy, Austin Energy, SWEPCO, and El Paso Electric to gather incentives towards projects.

See how our in-house incentive team has the connections and expertise to help you unlock the max incentives available for your efficiency project.
