Several U.S. states and Canada are working to mandate adoption of LED lighting technology. This is for 2 primary reasons:
Linear fluorescent tubes, as well as pin-based & screw-base CFLs, will be prohibited from being manufactured, sold, or distributed in affected regions.
This means facilities in those regions will not be able to purchase replacement fluorescent lamps, forcing a transition to LED.
